Hello, I’m Sophie, a freelance animation director based in Bristol, UK. 

My most recent animation Blooming (co-directed with Efa Blosse-Mason) is in the festival circuit and is the winner of the ‘Best Short Short’ award from BAFTA recognised LOCO: London Comedy Film Festival. My other films include Writing from the Shadows, which can be found on BBC iPlayer as part of the series Animated Thinking and paper film Untamed Truths, an adult animal alphabet screened on Channel 4 as a part of the Random Acts Series.

I design and run animation workshops for all age groups. Since 2018 I have been the creative director for Waves of Change making collaborative animations with children & young people in the Amazon rainforest, Cornwall and Bristol. I deliver yearly guest lectures as part of masters and PhD training at the University of Bristol to explore how animation can be used to communicate research.

At Aardman (2019, 2021 & 2023) I’ve been an assistant set-dresser on Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget | Chicken Shop Date, Coldplay’s music video ‘Daddy‘, The Very Small Creatures series and assistant model-maker on Morph.

I also like to make silly books and travel cartoons. Most of these are available in my Etsy shop.
